Toyota Alphard 40 Series (AH40) English Introduction

The Toyota Alphard 40 series is the fourth generation of Toyota’s flagship luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), officially launched in 2023. It is designed as a premium “chauffeur-style” minivan that focuses on maximum comfort, quietness, and luxury-level interior space rather than sporty performance.

The Alphard 40 continues Toyota’s goal of creating a “luxury saloon with a large space,” targeting executives and families who prioritize rear-seat comfort. It shares its platform with the Toyota Vellfire and uses the TNGA-K architecture, the same modern platform used in many Toyota/Lexus mid-to-large vehicles.

Exterior Design

The 40-series adopts a more modern and structured design compared to previous generations:

• Large, bold front grille (signature Alphard identity)
• More sculpted body lines for a stronger and more premium look
• Improved aerodynamics while keeping a boxy, spacious MPV shape
• Designed to look like a “mobile luxury lounge”

The styling is meant to feel more like a luxury SUV-minivan hybrid, rather than a traditional family van.
